The Fifth Update!

Long time, no update! I tried to make this fifth installment at least two or three times but...eh, I lost interest in the subject matter and got tied up with a bunch of other things. 🤷🏾‍♀️ 

Yeah, Happy New Year! 🎉🥳 

Last year definitely felt like...a year (it felt like two, lmayo, the years usually feel faster to me; this is first time I've felt this way). I didn't particularly enjoy it very much. 😬 It started off with a lot of promise after quitting my seasonal job. Then started to sour...and sour...and sour...and then turned into a glimmer of hope towards the end. 🕯💖

A lot of my 2023 was spent waiting and learning from mistakes. Not enough of doing the things I wanted to accomplish. 😕 Some of it wasn't in my control and some of it had to play out in order to get better, but the things that were in my control, I regret sitting around on those opportunities. I'm glad I have another chance to get to them. 

While there were multiple things that overshadowed the events of 2023, there were some positives. 

A good example of this is reflected in last year's Top Nine:

Unlike the last two years, I got it generated and did so earlier than usual to avoid the rush, lol.  I did a MUCH better job at scheduling my June Birthday Project. 😄 A large majority of that project made it to the top! ...Then again, my project was basically all I posted that year. (I didn't realize that until I typed this. 😅)

Didn't expect Barney to be first! That was largely due to it being shared by a popular fan account (Thanks!). I expected my Bingo & Bandit piece to do well, there's a bit of compilation-ception going on in fourth, Grimace being in the center is cracking me up, and wow! My first livestream announcement made it at only four interactions? ...Yeeeah, that's a sign that I need to make more art in 2024. 😆

But thanks to everyone who liked, shared, commented and even followed! I appreciate it. ☺👍🏾

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Or even just a nice four-day weekend! ⛄❄

Christmas hasn't been feeling as special as it used to for me for quite a while. Like, I know it's a special time of year and I love the aesthetic and themes, but it's been way too long since it's really felt special. Ever since my brother and I knew what we were getting, it hasn't been the same. It became kinda boring. 😞

Last December felt different though (2023 seems to have been a prominent year in different ways). I noticed that Christmas was starting to become increasingly more satisfying over the last two years. 👀And thanks to that glimmer of hope I accumulated, I was finally able to get back into the Christmas Spirit this season. 😄 I was happily singing songs casted from my phone, enjoying the presence of my family, being surprised by my gifts again! It was nice. 😊🌟

Unfortunately, it kicked in about a day before Christmas Eve or so, so the feeling was pretty short-lived.😶 I didn't want to register that the main holiday itself was over. I still haven't gotten a chance get to sit down and watch any Christmas movies...(I don't count overwatching the ones my mom was playing in the background. 😅) *Sigh* I hope that in 2024 I'll feel more festive earlier and longer. ✨

Circling back to my gifts: One of my older sisters asked me what I wanted so she could pass it on to my aunt and I made a few suggestions not expecting to get most. I also I skipped out on joining my mom's Christmas shopping to see what she'd pick for me without giving much of a suggestion. I would have been thankful for whatever I ended up with, but I was pretty impressed by the accuracy this time around. xD

Some of the things I got were...

• A Garfield shirt & Garfiled socks, (I got peach pants too, I know what I'm wearing to The Garfield Movie premiere, hahaha please be a good movie)
• A few or two pairs of pajama pants, one of which had a Sesame Street pattern (pulled straight out of the guy's section, lmayo, as long as I can fit them, I don't care)
• A Classic Mickey and Friends patterned hoodie
• A Caran d'Ache wax pastel set of 15 (These were a lot smaller than I thought?? One of the artists I'm subscribed to on YouTube was using these. I thought they looked really appealing and wanted to try them for myself, which is ironic for me, because as I got older, I started looking down at crayons, seeing them as a "childish" medium. These are basically the same. xD Only chunkier and better at blending. hope I use these for something...and the Poscas I bought months ago, oof)  

🌌 What's next? 🤔

Let's see...I plan on posting here more frequently and clearing out most of my drafts. I have multiple art pieces from the last two years that I want to bring over here and after that, I want to make a post detailing my goals for 2024. I have an idea of what drawing I want to digitalize next but I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

• Hint: It's an older mashup drawing I've never posted before, and it stars characters I haven't posted art of in a long time.

And what am I looking forward to this year? Uh...one definite thing I'm looking forward to this year is new Bluey episodes! We've been waiting since July! 😭 It's the only currently running show I've been hype for, ha. 😅 Though I must admit, there's been a bit of damper on my excitement due to...something that looks rather odd. 🤨 I might put a blog post together about it in the future...🤔

Another definite thing I'm looking forward to is Princess Peach Showtime! 🤩 Even though my Switch is STILL messed up and I probably won't be able to buy it...😟😞 I'm ...looking forward to playing the demo in the meantime! I'm debating on whether I should get my Switch repaired, just get a new one or just hold off until the Switch 2 gets released. (The only way that last one will be an option is if it's backwards compatible.)

Let's see how 2024 goes!
